Week 8 Assignment

For the last week I have been working on creating a prototype for the tool and the page that the tool will live on. I started working on one version of such page and embedding the p5.js tool onto the page. I also am working on various sketches that manipualte text with different parameters to cater each page’s tool to the sign of each location.

The current version of the page displays images and quotes that illustrate the narrative and history behind each location and how it has served the city during its existence. The tool lives at the end of the page where users can interact and create variations of the location’s sign with.

During alumni feedback sessions, I received a lot of great feedback that made me think about some decisions to be made going forward. Many asked what would be the takeaway from the user interacting with the tool, or what would be next? Some ideas I have are creating an archival page to display user outputs or altering the location specific page itself to reflect the changes the users have created with the tool but I am still in consideration of these features to see what makes most sense for my project.

For the next week I plan to work on:

  • Creating more sketches with different parameters and manipulations
  • Try consolidating and embedding tools with location pages
  • Work on creating more and improved versions of location pages
  • Considering creating an archival page for user outputs, or ways user output can be incorporated into the location page itself

Questions:

  • I definitely had some difficulty embedding p5.js sketches into my html file locally even with the p5.js extensions so it would be great to receive some help with that aspect.
  • Is it possible to create classes or id’s within a p5.js sketch?
